LASER-TEC Participated in NCTIETA 2015 Fall Professional Development Workshop

Over 100 secondary and post-secondary trade, industry, and science teachers participated in the Fall Professional Development Workshop hosted by NCACTE Trade and Industrial Education Division on November 19-21, 2015 in Atlantic Beach, NC.

North Carolina met the participants of the NC Trade and Industrial Education Teacher Association with heavy thunderstorms and floods, and was later awarded with the most beautiful fall day the Coastal Carolina’s could offer.

Represented by Co-PI Gary Beasley and Program Manager Natalia Chekhovskaya, LASER-TEC hosted the “Lasers and Photonics” workshop that brought together 12 educators to learn more about the science, technology and best practices in integrating lasers and fiber optics into excising curriculum.  This 7-hour workshop covered the fundamentals of light, lasers, and fiber optics. And as a standard practice, LASER-TEC offered a free “Light and Optics Exploration” kit with the detailed lesson plan guide to each participant.

The workshop feedback was extremely positive and included statements like “the best workshop I have attended in my career”, “great workshop”, and “we left with actual hands-on experience”.

We would like to thank NCTIETA for inviting us to this event. We are looking forward to our partnership.
