Lasers and Fiber Optics Workshop for Homeschool Educators, Apr. 12, 2016

A Homeschool students visit to LASER-TEC in January 2016 lead to a conversation between LASER-TEC and homeschool stakeholders about a Professional Development event exclusively for the homeschool community. On April 12, 2016, thirteen educators teaching physics, math, chemistry, engineering, and other STEM disciplines participated in this full-day workshop.

The workshop morning session was focused on laser safety, laser operation and applications, as well as general principals of light as a ray. The wave optics was introduced to the educators in the afternoon. Light polarization, interference, and diffraction was explored through multiple hands-on activities.

To assist educators with seamless integration of light, lasers, and fiber optics into their STEM classes, LASER-TEC provided each participant with the Light and Optics Exploration Kit, lesson plans, and informational materials.
