Discover Light with LASER-TEC

Light is so fundamental to human life that we take it for granted. Natural light that comes from the sun enables photosynthesis in plants (which in turn create our breathable atmosphere) and plays an essential part in many other natural processes that support the existence of life as we know on earth. It was not too long ago when, in 1890, Thomas Edison patented the first artificial light source that enabled us to conquer the night. Only fifty-five years ago, in 1960, Charles Townes created the first working laser. The inventions and applications based on light science and technology have been so many, so important, and so beneficial to all endeavors of human existence, 2015 has been proclaimed the International Year of Light.

Event Details
LASER-TEC is pleased to announce a public lecture on the achievements of the laser and infrared technologies.

Indian River State College has planned a series of events throughout the year focusing on different light-based technologies. Come and share an evening with us as we celebrate the International Year of Light. You will have the opportunity to listen to experts explain how lasers and infrared light technologies make our lives easier today, ask questions, learn about college studies and careers in light-based technologies, and tour the photonics and fiber optics labs at IRSC’s Fort Pierce campus.
