IRSC Robotics & Photonics Institute Takes Field Trip to Harris Corporation
25 students and faculty from IRSC’s Robotics and Photonics Institute attended the field trip to Harris Engineering in Palm Bay and Malabar on Friday, October 23rd.

The tour started at the high security HTC Engineering Innovation Center in Palm Bay, FL. Here, the students were escorted to the user experience center, a place where various teams gather to test, troubleshoot, and make necessary changes to software and other technology solutions for their end users. Next, they visited an idea space and learned about collaboration techniques to solve complex problems by using brainstorming sessions. They also attended a presentation about their synthetic aperture radar satellite payload and a tour of the space vehicle assembly area.

The group then drove to the Manufacturing Facility in Malabar, FL where they learned more about the design, manufacturing and assembly of communication devices for the US military. A peek at the SATCOM terminal area completed the tour.

A group of Harris engineers and technicians opened the floor to a Q&A session for our students and spoke about the opportunities at Harris for both horizontal and vertical job growth within the different divisions. Students returned home with a comprehensive picture of the Harris Corporation the latest technical developments in the industry and some fantastic job opportunities within their own college region.
