Homeschool Student Visits at Indian River State College, May 26, 2016
Lots of jokes, laughs, hands-on, creativity, and ingenuity marked May 26, 2016 at the Indian River State College Photonics Lab. Two groups, a total of 60 middle and high school students and their parents entered a good-spirited competition on the best design for the laser-enabled museum security systems. While having fun, the students learned about the latest developments of the laser and fiber optics (LFO) technologies as well as academic and career pathways within these fields.
LASER-TEC was bombarded with inquisitive questions about industries, jobs, tasks, and wages of LFO technicians. Students were very curious about principals of laser operation, types of lasers, and integrated laser systems. We are looking forward to many more student field trips to our labs!
