LASER-TEC Hosted Industry Workshop on Air-Blown Fiber Cable
LASER-TEC hosted an 8-hour industry workshop on Air-Blown Fiber® Design on November 6, 2014 at Indian River State College, FL.  The workshop was led by subject matter experts from Sumitomo Electric Lightwave, known for their innovative air-blown fiber optics infrastructure for the enterprise network.

A total of 27 attendees from local fiber optics companies, utilities, colleges, and other academic institutions explored FutureFLEX® capabilities and components and modern applications of the technology.

Some of the course topics included both inside and outside plant design and installation, splicing, coupling of tubes, termination methods, and air-blown fiber® techniques like design guidelines, estimating, documentation, and installation. Special applications of fiber optics such as mass transit, Class 1 Div. 1 & 2, power generation facilities, and healthcare were also covered in this course.

Attendees were eligible to receive up to 6 continuing education credits upon completion of the course.
